Cool Camo

Some of the top magazine editors have proclaimed that if there is one piece for them to get this season, its a pair of camouflage pants. Army inspirations have been going strong and fall fashion weeks cement this style into our wardrobes. This pair of camo pants from the Gap are exactly what the style doctor ordered, with military influenced cargo pockets and a slim, straight fitting leg. Don't blend in, stand out in this cool camo.

Smells Like Style

Balenciaga recently launched a fragrance aptly named Balenciaga Paris and I am thrilled. I will be honest and say I have yet to smell the namesake essence of Balenciaga, available exclusively at Neiman Marcus, but I have very high hopes. The bottle is simply killer, so regardless I am sure this new fragrance smells like style.

Mulberry Street

It seems that one way to cement yourself as a style icon is to collaborate on a bag design. Kate Moss is doing it with Longchamp and now Alexa Chung is joining the ranks with the Alexa Bag for Mulberry. The bag emulates Alexa's downtown preppster look and the British cutie has already been spotted carrying around her namesake tote. Add that to the recent showing of Chung's collaboration with denim darling Madewell, that has been getting rave reviews, attests to the fact that she isn't going anywhere soon. But the best way to start snagging Alexa's signature style is by taking a trip down Mulberry street.

Bada Boum

One thing a couple of designers from NYFW have been toying with is the idea of being able purchase items fresh off the runway instead of waiting months until fall rolls around. I love this idea of instant gratification because when I see something I like, I want it NOW! Rebecca Minkoff is one designer who is trying out this new method by making a limited quantity of this Bada Boum tee from her fall presentation available for purchase now. So Bada Boum, need we say more.

Collaboration Nation: Sonia Rykiel x H & M

I had the pleasure of going to H and M for the launch of Sonia Rykiel's clothing for the retailer, which debuted on February 20. There was definitely a big turn out and for good reason because the stripes and slouchy silhouettes are textbook Rykiel. Get yourself to an H and M as quickly as you can because this one is so good it won't last long! The collaboration is the perfect way to start off your spring wardrobe with a little Parisian chic.

Write Stuff

During Fashion Week there is one thing that magazine editors and bloggers alike can be seen clutching in their stylish hands, their handy, dandy notebook. Though Moleskins are a go to for many, why not try the chic leather variety from Smythson. Known for their luxury leather goods, the company makes diaries in just about every color you can imagine and many have clever sayings embossed in gold on their covers. The best part is that they can all be monogrammed for the personalized touch that makes sure you have the write stuff.

Go for the Gold

I, for one, was thrilled watching the opening ceremony for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics because the United States athletes were finally looking chic in attire that flattered them. Though this isn't Ralph Lauren's first stint creating the wardrobe to represent our country, it is definitely his best effort to date. Show some team spirit by sporting pieces created for the opening ceremony and go for the gold!

Yabba Dabba Do

Channel your inner Wilma Flintstone with this large stone and rope necklace by Florian. There is something so clean and fresh about a non-layered statement necklace. The rope and bead combination gives this piece the extra edge that makes it stand out. This is definitely not your typical stone age flair, yabba dabba do.

The set comes with 55 unique designs including the classic interlocking C's. Get ready to dampen those sponges because this is the beginning of temporary chic.

Viva McQueen

We would be amiss if we didn't mention the news that rocked the fashion world this past week about the untimely passing of Alexander McQueen. Considered a revolutionary designer and fashion darling, McQueen will be dearly missed. Viva McQueen.

Dashing Demin

A boyfriend fit chambray shirt is a must for spring, where denim is no longer limited to just jeans. J.Crew's Selvage Chambray Shirt is stone washed for a worn in feel that looks fantastic dressed up or dressed down. So don't be afraid to don a Mexican tuxedo, because denim just got a whole lot more dashing.

Flower Child

One thing is for certain, florals are going to be huge come spring and summer. This top from American Eagle is a sweet, feminine way to hop on the trend now by pairing it with a blazer and jeans, but will also work great with a skirt or shorts come spring. The best part about it? It's a steal for $29.50 and comes in five different colors. Channeling your inner flower child has never been this easy.

Taupe Tale

A nail polish color that has had everyone talking in the new year are taupe shades that blend in with your skin. It marks a departure from neons and other unconventional colors that have been so popular recently, and I am excited to take this trend for a test drive. One bottle that keeps getting mentioned over and over again is OPI's Over the Taupe, so go take if for a test drive and write a taupe tale of your own.

Eye on You

First of, I have to say thank you to the Olsen twins for continuing their work as style icons and creative geniuses. Their next foray into outfitting the masses comes in the form of a killer eyewear collaboration with Linda Farrow for their line The Row. I am loving these Cat Eye spectacles, which are big and bold, making it that much easier to channel your inner Olsen. Wearing these hot shades will ensure that all eyes will be on you.

Rain Warrior

Ok, someone at Hunter Boots finally wised up and made a takeoff of their incredible collaboration with Jimmy Choo. Hunter is now making the Boa Wellie that is snake embossed rubber for all of the water resistance you love now with some style and a price tag much more reasonable than its inspiration. So pull a pair on to become a chic rain warrior.

Seeing Spots

Leave it to a former accessories designer for Marc by Marc Jacobs to split off and continue making lust-worthy pieces for our enjoyment. The dots are made out of sheet glass and the bags come in a variety of color combinations which are nothing short of a ray of sunshine. The company also makes fantastic belts and jewelry, but there is no doubt that they will leave you seeing spots.

Slouch Style

My obsession with blazers does not seem like it is going to die anytime soon, but I am always looking for new variations to shake things up. Enter Alice + Olivia's Cascade wool blend blazer complete with faux suede collar that is the perfect mix of put together and downtown chic. So give this slouchy style a try next time you are out on the town for a hip, clean look.

In-Vested

While browsing the city this past weekend I stumbled upon this zip front ruffled vest and fell in love. Imagine my surprise when I discovered none other than Theory made the chic little number. I thought this piece was a bit of a departure for the brand, but regardless it has all of the high quality fabric and construction that I have come to love from Theory. So don't be afraid to get invested in this piece, it will transition perfectly into spring and beyond.

American Polish

Leave it to our favorite spot for finding basic tees and just about everything else to bring us another item we can't live without, nail polish. Produced in the good old USA, the fine people at American Apparel have made an 18 color collection that will go with every mood. The polishes apply nicely and there is no better way to kick off the new year than with a new nail color.

Fade to Grey

Typically, I have a tendency to stick with straight up super skinny blue jeans. That all may change with J Brand's ombre fade pencil leg in Stellar Twill. These pants have been sported on the street by Rachel Bilson and needless to say they are an eye-catching pant. So perhaps it is time to veer from the traditional blue jean and fade to grey.

Make a Wish

As we enter into 2010 there are so many things to hope for, and I love to keep that optimism with me wherever I go. That is why I love these Dogeared 100 Good Wishes bracelets complete with 100 beads to represent the things you will need most in the new year, from compassion and luck, to hope and integrity. The bracelets come in a variety of colors with either bronze or silver beads, so tie one on and make a wish for 2010.

Collaboration Nation: Rodarte x Target

Though this may not be new news to you, before the new year began one of the most talked about collaborations of 2009 was released, Rodarte for Target. The collection has been incredibly popular, and people rushed to pick up the slip like items and rib cage dress. I was lucky enough to snag the lace leopard dress above and rocked it for new year's eve! Most pieces have sold out online, but you may be lucky enough to pick up an item from the collection at your local Target before it leaves stores on January 31.

Just Dotty

With a new year comes new year's resolutions and one for some of you may be updating your undergarments. I love that Phillip Lim has brought the uplifting polka dots from his spring frocks into the boudoir for a lovely set of silk underwear. Check them out, you may just go dotty.
